A
DECADE OF PEACE
Golden
West College Celebrates the 10th Anniversary of their Annual Peace
Conference
Peace.
Sustainability. Justice.
“Regenerative
Peace: Sustaining Our Work, Communities, Environment and Selves in Service”
COSTA MESA, CA
– As a nation, we have long
witnessed the increase of terror abroad and at home. With an exponential
increase of school shootings that have occurred over the years, there couldn’t
be a more fitting time to celebrate ten years of peace in the Coast Community
College District. On Earth Day, Friday, April 22, the District will celebrate
the 10th Anniversary of the Golden West College Peace Conference.
This year’s theme “Regenerative Peace: Sustaining Our
Work, Communities, Environment and Selves in Service”, will set the stage
for a day filled with inquiry, discussion and reflection about how everyday
people can redefine the current narrative of global challenges that exist
within our world today, and recognize their role in shaping our world for a
better tomorrow.
“The purpose of this conference is to provide a
unique forum for building a culture of peace through intellectual and
experiential workshops and dialogues, building bridges and creating communities
that are just compassionate and sustainable,” said Peace Studies Program
Coordinator, Fran Faraz.
The impactful conference intends to draw crowds of
researchers, educators, artists, advocates, and students who share a vision to
be deeper stewards of technology, economics, education, art and social media in
a way that inspires communities to thrive on the power of knowledge and
service. Simply, the conference seeks to encourage people to be the change they
wish to see.
Admission is free to Coast Community College District
students. Advance tickets are $25 for the General Public, $40 at the door. The
registration fee covers vegan breakfast, vegan lunch, conference materials and
gifts. Free parking is available in GWC Parking Lots B & C. The event has
been promoted as a zero waste event. For complete details, updates and to
register, please visit: www.goldenwestcollege.edu/peace.
